Obituary

Mrs. Marie (Ree) Carn-Edwards, was summoned to her call on Friday, April 26, 2025 at Pruitt Nursing Home in Walterboro, SC after a brief illness.  She was born on August 20, 1949 in Dorchester County, SC to the late Junior Carn and Martha Wolfe Carn, she was the third of nine children.

Ree as she was affectionately called, attended the Public Schools of St. George, SC. She joined St. Mark UMC at an early age.  She held one the most important jobs ever, caregiving for her husband, mom, dad, and other family members as well as babysitting.  She was the matriarch of her family and moved with her mom to take care of her for many, many years.  Marie made sure that her siblings and other family members were taken care of also.  She loved and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  Marie was a person of few words, but her presence and love for everyone around her was known.  One of her favorites pass times was playing cards for fun with friends and relatives.

Marie was joined in holy matrimony to the late Curtis Lee Edwards in November 1970.  This union was blessed with one loving daughter, Deloris Edwards-Williams, whom she adored.  She had one brother, and sister-in-law, Lee, Jr. (Eva Mae) Carn, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Edwards leaves to cherish her fond memories:  her daughter, Deloris (Ricky) Williams; four brothers, all of St. George, SC, Lewis (Maggie Carson) Carn, Lee Clay (Annette) Carn, Ulysees (Denise) Carn and Joe Carn; three sisters all of St. George, SC, Virginia Carn-DeLee, Valerie (Bill) Carn-Bradley and Mary Lee (Dave) Carn Allen; one brother-in-law, Harry Jones; two sisters-in-law, Margie Edwards-Brown and Catherine Edwards all of St. George, SC; a very special friend to the family, Mr. Isaac Jamison.  She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
