Obituary

Margie Lee Lemon was born on April 25, 1950 in Dorchester County to the late Mr. Thomas Levi Lemon, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Lingard Lemon who both preceded her in death.  She lived in Middleburg, FL.  She departed this life peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at The Terrace of Jacksonville in Jacksonville, FL after a brief illness.  She was the oldest of eight children.

Margie graduated from Williams Memorial High School in St. George, SC in 1968.  After graduation, she matriculated to New York City where she worked at AT&T Telephone Company for over thirty years until retirement.  After retirement, she relocated back home.

At an early age Margie accepted the Lord as her personal savior. She joined Bethel # 2 Pentecostal Holiness Church.  While in New York City, she affiliated herself with St. John Pentecostal Church under the leadership of Bishop James Isaac Wilkins.  While at St. John Pentecostal Holiness Church she served on the St. John Fellowship Choir, Usher Board, Pastor's Aide Board, Nurses' Unit and was Bishop Wilkins personal nurse.  After returning home, she reunited herself with Bethel # 2 Pentecostal Holiness Church.  She served faithfully and represented well in the church as a Trustee Member, Choir Member, Church Clerk, Finance Committee Member, Founder of the Pastor's Aide Board, Women's Ministry, Former Vice President of the Youth Department, and the Southern District Recording Secretary until her health declined.  She loved her church and attending the Southern District meetings.  She also loved serving and praising the Lord!  She always went above and beyond when called upon to do something for the church and district as well as for her family.

After retirement she returned home and worked at the Dorchester County Voter Registration and was a substitute teacher in Dorchester School District Four.  She loved traveling far and near and having family gatherings at her home.  She was affectionately known as Aunt Margie by all her nieces, nephews and everyone who encountered her.  She was affectionately known as "ML" and "Margie L" by her church family and friends.

Margie was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene Lemon and Naomi Lemon and two brothers, Walter Lemon and Thomas Levi Lemon, Jr. "Cave".

Although she has transitioned, precious memories will abide and never be forgotten by a special niece reared as a daughter, Mrs. Tonya (Deacon Robert) McLendon of Norfolk, VA; one loving godson, Mr. Richard Simmons of St. George, SC; three grandchildren, Madison, Heigel and Ayden of Norfolk, VA; one dedicated and loving sister, Mrs. Betty (Johnny) Bryant of Covington, GA; two brothers, Master Chief Joseph (Elder Crystal) Lemon of Middleburg, FL and Mr. John E.
