Mrs. Margaret Primus Hopkins, daughter of the late McCray and Blondine Summers Primus, was born September 9, 1934, Dorchester County, South Carolina. She departed this life on Friday, November 20, 2015, at 6:26 p.m. at the Orangeburg Regional Hospital after an extended illness.
Margaret became a Jehovah Witness in 1968 in New York, NY. She attended the public schools in Dorchester County. For many years Margaret was employed for New York Telephone Company and while employed there they changed the name to Bellsouth. After relocating back to South Carolina she was employed at Smoaks Manufacturing for 18 years.
Margaret was joined in Holy Matrimony to the late Ernest Hopkins, Sr. on September 24, 1955. She was blessed with six beautiful children.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: five sons, Abram Primus of Germantown, Maryland, Arnold (Samantha) Hopkins of Coral Spring, Florida, Ernest Hopkins, Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida, Kenneth (Desiree) Hopkins of Spring Valley, New York, and Wayne Eric (Wanda) Hopkins of Mt. Vernon, New York; one daughter, Evelyn Ruth Hopkins of Reevesville, South Carolina; one sister, Dorothy Lincoln of Somerset, New Jersey; four sisters-in-law, Nellie Risher of Reevesville, South Carolina, Idella Primus of St. George, SC, Dorothy Hopkins of Bronx, New York and Lizzie Mae Hopkins of Arizona; sixteen grandchildren, Latoya, Deniece, Rane, Lakisha, Demira, Talia, Jeremy, Arnold, Jr., Julian, Maxwell, Christina, Dasha, Devon, Danielle, Destiny and Alleya; four great grandchildren, Chris, Taylor, Debi and Kellen; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
