Mrs. Mamie Faddin Simmons was born April 7, 1930 to the late Ethel Faddin Wrights and step father Louis Wrights.
Mamie received her education at Reevesville Elementary School in Reevesville, SC and Williams Memorial School in St. George, SC. She worked over forty years and was always willing to help others when needed.
On June 30, 1975 she was united in holy matrimony to the late Louis Simmons of Harleyville, SC. To this union nine children were born.
Mamie later moved to Reevesville, SC where she joined St. Matthews Baptist Church. She faithfully served on the Senior Usher Board and also served as the sexton of the church. When her health failed she retired from the usher board but still served faithfully as a member of the St. Matthews Baptist Church.
Mamie was preceded in death by three sons, one twin baby boy, Harry (Bubba) Simmons and Freddie Simmons and two brothers, Raymond Wrights and Albert Young.
Mamie leaves to cherish her memories: her children, Katie Murray of Rowesville, SC, Lula Simmons of Yonkers, NY, Willie Simmons of St. George, SC, Minnie Simmons of Orangeburg, SC, and Nathaniel Simmons and Jerome Simmons both of New Jersey; one sister-in-law, Rosa Bell Mack and a host of grandchildren, great grand children, step grand children, nieces, nephews and friends.
