Mamie Dorothy Marshall Howell was born on September 25, 1920 in Jasksonville, Forida. Mamie was the fourth child born to the late Alexander Marshall Jr. and Carrie Jenkins Marshall. She was proceeded in death by her sister Elease, brother James, brother Emerson, and brother Alexander III.

Mamie was raised in Jacksonville, Florida and Savannah Georgia. She graduated from Beach High School in Savannah, Georgia. At an early age, Mamie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour, and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Savannah, Georgia.

In 1936, Mamie migrated to New York City where she resided in Flushing, New York. In 1937, she joined The Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend T.B. Mitchell. Mamie served tirelessly under the leadership of the Reverend Dr. Timothy P. Mitchell on the Usher Board, Pastor's Aide Committee, Women's Day Chairperson, Ruth Deaconess Board, Trustee Board, President of the President's Council and the Sunday School. In 1979, she was ordained as a Deaconess and she served the Lord humbly and faithfully in this capacity.

Mamie went to school and learned the trade of sewing, she was a gifted and talented seamstress. She was employed as a "Sample Seamstress" and her work was displayed on mannequins in Macy's Department Store on 34th Street in Manhattan, New York as well as Gimbal's Department Store.

In 2006, Mamie relocated to St. George, South Carolina. Upon her arrival in St. George, she promptly joined Jerusalem Baptist Church. Mamie loved the Lord and stated that, "I did whatever I was asked or found to do. I enjoyed working in the Master's Vineyard; Just happy to be in his service."

Mamie leaves to mourn her passing her devoted sister, Ms. Frankie Marshall; her beloved nieces, Mrs. Brenda Marshall-Stewart and Mrs. Sheri Marshall-Meikle; grand nieces and nephews; great-grand nieces and nephews; godchildren; devoted cousins and dedicated friends.
