Ludy Elvia
Zelaya-Dunnings
Aug 16, 1932 — May 15, 2026
With deep love and gratitude, we remember Ludy Elvia Zelaya-Dunnings Robinson, age 93, who passed away on May 15, 2026.
Ludy was born on August 16, 1932, in Roatan, Honduras to Emmanuel and Evangeline Zelaya, both of whom preceded her in death. Ludy was a beloved friend, daughter, sister, aunt, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was the eldest of six siblings, predeceased by Earl, Shirley and Harding. Ludy is survived by her sisters Zola Ramirez of La Ceiba, Honduras, and Sonia Zelaya of Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
At the age of 23, Ludy immigrated to the United States. She settled down in Harleyville, South Carolina with her beloved husband, Mr. Bianchi Dunning Jr. They were married on January 12, 1963, and together shared six children. Ludy dedicated herself wholeheartedly to creating a home filled with love, faith, and support. She also cared for both her mother, Evangeline Zelaya, and her father-in-law Bianchi Dunnings Sr., late in their lives.
Even in her career, Ludy gave herself unconditionally, always placing the needs of others before her own. Ludy spent decades working as a certified nursing aide in both New Jersey and South Carolina. Her patients and their families praised her for making their lives better, even during their toughest moments.
After the passing of her husband, Bianchi Dunnings Jr., Ludy later found companionship with her late husband, Mr. Easley Robinson of Walterboro, South Carolina.
Ludy will be remembered for her love of reading, writing, and studying of scripture. Her blunt wisdom, kindness, and unwavering love created a legacy that will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, and all those blessed to have known her. Though her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled, her memory remains as a lasting source of comfort, strength, and inspiration.
She was preceded in death by her eldest son Carlos Dunnings. Ludy is lovingly survived by her cherished children, Betty Dunnings, Harleyville, SC, Terry Dunnings (Earline), Ladson, SC, Sandra Williams, Summerville, SC, Clay Dunnings (Tracy) Harleyville, SC, Mark Dunning (Patricia) Mystic, CT, step children Dawana Robinson Walterboro, SC and Deidre Robinson, Walterboro, SC. As well as her eight grandchildren, one step grandchild, six great-grandchildren, one step great-grandchild, a loving sister in-law Vilma Zelaya, a very special niece Janneth Griffin (Jerry) North Charleston, SC and nephew William "Billy" Ramirez, North Charleston, SC a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends whose lives were forever touched by her love.
May Ludy rest peacefully, forever held in the hearts of those who loved her.
