Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Andrew Dallas Green , was born August 3, 1963, at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, to the loving parents, Deacon Charlie Green, Jr. and Daisy Belle Riley Green. Our dear Andrew was called home on May 5, 2023, at his current residence.

He and his family moved to St. George, SC, where he began kindergarten in the public school system and became a young member of Good Hope Baptist Church at an early age under the leadership of the late Dr. Reverend Samuel B. Marshall. He was active in drama and instrumental music, while consistently achieving academic recognition on the honor roll. During his senior year, he was voted the senior superlatives of Class Favorite and Most School Spirit.

After graduation from high school in 1981, he enrolled at South Carolina State University majoring in Elementary Education and joined the school's Army Reserves Officer Training Corps. During his years in ROTC, he served in various leadership positions. LTC (Retired) Green was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, Transportation Corps in the U.S. Army Reserves in 1985, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education the following year.

He graduated from the U.S. Army Transportation Officers Basic and Advanced Courses, the Combined Arms and Staff Services School, and the Command and General Staff College, the second highest level of education for Army officers.

As a citizen/soldier, he has taught in various elementary grades in Dorchester, Orangeburg and Colleton counties from 1989 to 1999, to include serving as Chairperson of Grade Four at Bowman Elementary School for two years, while performing additional military duty. He also served as Cub master of Scout Pack 418 in Bowman for three years. He received Resolution No. 07-05 from the State of South Carolina, County of Dorchester, Dorchester County Council for his outstanding leadership ability to work with children and citizens in 2007. During his ten year tenure, his greatest accomplishment was a remarkable feat in never sending a student to the principal's office for discipline. Mr. Green was in charge!

Upon being called to active duty in 1999, LTC (Retired) Green has served as Commander, 385th Transportation Detachment Movement Control based at Fort Bragg in Fayetteville, NC, who led the unit to success and mission accomplishments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) at Camp Anaconda in Balad, Iraq from 2004 to 2005, under the 49th Transportation Battalion Movement Control based at Fort Hood in Killeen, TX. He served as the High- way Traffic Division Officer for the unit. LTC (Retired) Green also served as 3rd Corps, Deployment Operations Officer at the Port of Ash Shuaiba, Camp Spearhead in Kuwait City, Kuwait. While serving in Iraq, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for his efforts and accomplishment by the commanding general.

In 2007, he served as a Hurricane Relief Officer supporting the Department of Homeland Defense/Civil Support on the Crisis Action Team in the Army Operations Center at The Pentagon. While serving in the nation's capital, he received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service as the Northern Command, Senior Action Officer from Headquarters Department of the Army, Office of Deputy Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General James D. Thurman, a three-star.

Major General David D. Halverson, a two-star and Director of Headquarters Department of the Army, senior rated him as best qualified for absolutely stellar performance.

LTC (Retired) Green also received the actual limestone fragment from the face of the Pentagon attacked on September 11, 2001, as a reminder that Freedom is not free, and as a personal memento of his duty in the AOC during our global war against terrorism from Brigadier General Randy E. Manner, a one-star and Deputy Director of Headquarters Department of the Army.

In 2008, his last tour of duty and assignment, her served as the United States Southeast Command, Region IV (consisting of South Carolina, North Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee) Commander, Army Reserves Recruiting Officer based at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta, GA until retirement in 2010. The region recruited second highest of XII in the United States.

His military awards and decorations include the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal (second award), Army Achievement Medal (second award), army Reserve components Achievement Medal (third award) National Defense Service Medal (second award), Global war on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal and Mobilization (second award), and the Army Service Ribbon.

After 25 years of serving with Pride to his country, he served in the capacity of the Retired Reserves, Army Reserves Personnel command, St. Louis, Missouri.

LTC (Retired) Green is survived by his parents, Charlie and Daisy Green; sister, Operadella (Paul R.) Cobbs; nieces, Opera, Skyller and Paulvonda; brother, Charlie "Chuck" Lamont (Tangela) Green; nieces, Shadeana, Tangelique, Tanasia; grandniece, Semynii "Joy" Green; nephew, Taaj Summerson all of St. George, SC; a special sister, Stacey (Sam) Edwards Neals of Columbia, SC and two special nieces, LaSunjaa Lemon, and Marlayshia "Snow" Daniel all of St. George, SC; two special nephews, Kyheim and Jamere Lemon; aunts, Louise (Johnnie B. Kelly), Evelyn (Frank) Westbury, Margaret Westbury and Janie Ruth Martino all of St. George, SC ; uncles, Joseph "Phean" (Josephine) Riley of Statesboro, GA, Samuel "Buck" Riley, Kelvin Riley, Daniel Haynes, all of St. George, SC, Reverend David Green of Buffalo, NY, Joseph (Elizabeth) Green, grand uncles, David (Ora) Green of Buffalo, NY, David (Philippine) Segar of St. George, SC and Freddie Lee Moore of Reevesville, SC; grand aunts, Catherine Rolack and Alma Boyd of St. George, SC; a host of other relatives and friends.
