Mrs. Lizzie Street Griffin of St. George, South Carolina accepted God's open hand to heavenly rest on Thursday, August 2, 2012 at Mount Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina.

Mrs. Lizzie Street Griffin was the last surviving child of the late James and Angus Brown Street. She was born on March 16, 1916 in Dorchester County, South Carolina.

Mrs. Lizzie Street Griffin was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County. She was a homemaker. She loved the Lord, her children and grandchildren. Her heart was always elated when they were around, because they would sang her pet name "Momma Lizzie". Everyone call her "Momma Lizzie". She received Christ as her Lord and Saviour at an early age and humbly and peacefully showed it in her daily Christian Walk. Mrs. Lizzie ("Momma Lizzie") served as a faithful member of Bethel AME Church as a choir member, a missionary, Vice President of the Senior Choir, Secretary of the Cemetery Burial Fund and a member of the Stewardess Board # 3.

Mrs. Lizzie ("Momma Lizzie") was united in holy matrimony to late Will T. Griffin on April 5, 1937. This union was blessed with six children.

Mrs. Lizzie ("Momma Lizzie") was preceded in death by a son, George Allen Griffin; a daughter, Jeanette Hicks; grandson, Tyrone B. Griffin and daughter-in-law, Lue Ellen Griffin.

Mrs. Lizzie ("Momma Lizzie") leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Betty Ann (Felton) King, Raymond B. Griffin, Gladys (Rev. Frank) Moses and Bernice Griffin; nineteen grandchildren (eleven were reared in her home); three great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
