Lillie Ruth Rhett Major was born on May 17, 1923, to the union of Barney and Maggie-Gant Rhett in Reevesville, SC. Sis. Major went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 30, 2019, from Pruitt Health Nursing Home, Walterboro, SC.

Sis. Major accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member of New Grace United Methodist Church (formally St. Peter United Methodist Church), St. George, SC. Sis. Major received her formal education in Dorchester County Public Schools.

Lille Ruth married the love of her life and longtime companion, the late John C. Major. To this union was born three children, Edith (David) Leacock, Louis C. (Amelia) Major and Reatha B. Major (Benjamin) Grant, who preceded her in death. She also leaves to cherish her memory three (3) grandchildren, six (6) great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Virginia Major, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
