Lester J.
Mcwilliams
Jan 15, 1961 — Nov 16, 2025
Reevesville
Lester J McWilliams, age 64, of Reevesville, S.C. passed away peacefully on November 16, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Lester was born on January 15, 1961, in Colleton County, S.C. He was the second-oldest son of the late Lester McWilliams and Mary Helen Francis. Lester spent most of his years in Green Pond, South Carolina, where he received his education from the public schools of Colleton County.
For many years, Lester dedicated himself to his work in the lodging industry, where he built a reputation for reliability, kindness, and genuine care for the people he served. More recently, he proudly worked with the South Carolina Department of Transportation, forming friendships and earning the respect of his coworkers along the way.
Away from work, Lester loved spending time by the water. Myrtle Beach was his favorite place, a spot where he felt peace and happiness. Whether he was fishing at dawn, setting crab pots, or simply enjoying the ocean breeze, the beach was where he truly felt at home.
A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he rarely missed a game. Cheering on his team—win or lose—was one of his great joys, and he loved sharing those moments with family and friends.
Above all, Lester will be remembered for the love he gave to those around him. His laughter, his stories, and his steady presence will be forever cherished. God called his son home to take his rest and reunite with his father, mother, and daughter, Ashley McWilliams. He is survived by his beloved wife Vanessa McWilliams, daughters Lameshia (Michael) Dent, Loretta (George) Perry, Felecia (Tedrick) Smiley, Charlene (Ronald) Jordan, sons Travis Frederick, Clarence (Asia) Coger, and Ralphael (Keambricia) Coger. Siblings Patricia (Van) Ferebee, Rita Coger, Kathey Kelley, Eugene (Pearline) Francis, Arthur L. (Linda) McWilliams, John McWilliams, Jerome (Jaqueline) McWilliams, and Lamone (Erica) Coger. Father-in-law, Nathaniel Coger, and Mother-in-law, Retta Mae Coger, twenty-five (25) grandchildren, two (2) great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.
