Leroy Simmons, affectionately known as Roy, is the son of the late John and Anna Lizer Rivers Simmons was born on February 16, 1936. He was summoned by God's heavenly angels on March 28, 2025 at his residence.

He was born and attended public school in Dorchester County. Leroy accepted Christ at an early age and attended St. Luke United Methodist Church, which is now known as New Grace U. M. Church. Leroy's faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ never faltered.

Leroy began working as a farmer as a young boy. As a young man, he worked at U.S. Coco Mat and later went on to work as a logger at Whilly Hartzog and Stevens Logging Company. He worked as a logger until he was no longer able to work due to a serious work injury. When Leroy wasn't working, you could find him plowing a field with his tractor, tending to his hogs, caring for the garden and fields, or hunting with his coon dogs.

Leroy married Ollie Mae Britt in September 1956 and four children were born to this union. He loved, cared, and protected his family with all his being. This giant of man was stern, but was light hearted with his wit and would give you the shirt off his back. We enjoyed many laughs and great family memories.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the late Ollie Mae Simmons; his siblings: Johnnie Mae Hopkins, Benjamin Jr., Herbert, Willie EJ, Plent, and Joseph Simmons; a grandson, Shaun Simmons, and two great granddaughters, Royal.

He leaves to cherish his many memories with two sons Leroy (Carolyn) Simmons of Goose Creek, SC, and Ervin (Grola) Simmons of Summerville, SC, two daughters, Gloria (Bobby) Avery of St. George, SC, and Ida Simmons of Brooklyn, NY; two brothers, Allen (Marie) Simmons of Orangeburg, SC and Adolph Simmons of New Jersey; his in – laws, Dorothy (Leroy) Hodges and Willie Cee (Judy) Britt of St. George, SC and James Britt of Summerville, SC; 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
