A Time to Be Born…

Sister Lena Doris Frazier answered God's call from labor to reward on June 20, 2019. She was born September 8, 1947, the fourth child born to the late Mr. Clifton Durant, Sr. and Mrs. Dorothy Felder Durant in Dorchester County in St. George, SC.  Five siblings preceded her in death:  Mr. Paul Smith, Mr. Peter Smith, Mr. Eddie Durant, Mrs. Deloris Donaldson and Mr. Matthew Kirk Durant.

A Time to Gather…

Lena was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church for many years where she was a faithful member of the Usher Board and was always willing to lend a hand when and where she could in the church.  In 1984, she relocated to Brooklyn, New York where she became a member of Liberty Baptist Church, she continued her church up brings and wasted no time getting busy for the Lord by joining The Missionary Board and The Pastor's Aid Board.  She also became a Deaconess of the church.  Lena worked diligently in each of these duties until her final transition. Other organizations she belonged to are Order of the Eastern Stars Lodge #72 and The Willing Workers of New York.

A Time to Work…

Lena was raised in St. George in the area best known as Horne Street or Short Street.  She was educated in the school systems of Dorchester County.  After high school, she attended nursing school and became a caretaker at the St. George Nursing Home for many years. She took her passion for taking care of people to New York where she continued to work as a caretaker and home attendant for the CAB Nursing Home and the Senior Companions Corporation for National and Community Services Program.  She will always be remembered for her kind heart and gentle spirit and infectious laugh.

A Time to Love and Cherish…

Lena Durant met Mr. Arthur Frazier and married in 1965 until his death, but the Lord would allow her heart to love once more and she met Mr. John Jenkins whom she shared more than 40 years until his death in 2010.  Left to cherish her memories is her children Mr. Kelvin T. Frazier, Sr. (Yvette) of Brooklyn, New York, Mr. Gary Harrison Sr. (Ann) of Brooklyn, New York and Miss Cherice L. Smith of Summerville, SC; Four grandsons, Mr. Kelvin T. Frazier Jr., Mr. Jason P. Frazier, Mr. Gary Harrison, Jr. and Mr. Joshua Harrison all of Brooklyn, New York; One beautiful granddaughter, Miss Jaydah Y. Frazier also of Brooklyn, New York; Brother, Robert Ravenell (Mamie) of St. George, SC, Ethel Judge (William) of Charleston, SC, Linda Glover (Kenneth) of Brooklyn, NY, Carletta Wren (Wesley) of Harleyville, SC, Clifton Durant, Jr. (Carrie) of Holly Hill, SC and Annette Fonatine (William) of Brooklyn, NY; One sister-in-law, Mrs. Ruth McBride of St. George, SC; One brother-in-law, Mr. Harry Frazier of Columbia, SC; Her traveling companion, telephone buddy and best friend and cousin, Mrs. Virginia Sally Peppers; a host of loving nieces, nephews and other sorrowing relatives.
