L.C. Benny Berry was born February 23, 1950 to the union of Ella Mae Mack and Benny Berry. He departed this life on July 31, 2014.
Benny was educated in the Public Schools of Dorchester County. After the passing of his parents, he moved with family in Reevesville, SC and then to Florida to be raised yet again by more family members. He made his way to New York City in 1968 at the age of 18 and met the love of his life. On September 27, 1984 he married the love of his life Brenda Alston.
Benny was employed at King Range, Inc. for many years.
He was a wonderful father, a loving husband and an unforgettable PAPA. He was the life of the party. Mr. Benny Berry had a life well lived. Everyone loved him, known by many as PAPA, Benny, or Daddy. Wherever he went everyone knew him. He had this 3 step about him when he danced, all the grandchildren, great grandchildren loved to see him do.
It was a blessing; it is a blessing to have had such a wonderful person in our lives. His life will live on within all his family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Brenda Berry; children, Youlanda Alston (Sol Kurtz), Dejon Alston, Lisa Alston, Tashana Alston, Elaine Tara Small, Jason (Elisha) Wilson and Karon Hilton; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Katherine (Jerry) Walker and Lillie Mae (Frances) Shuler; sisters-in-law, Deborah (Louis) Middleton, Diane Alston, Mary Mack, and Diane Mack; brother-in-law, Terry Winningham; brother, Louis Moore; a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews. God was truly generous when he shared with us Mr. L.C. Benny Berry a man well loved by everyone.
