Mr. Lawrence "LB" Shukree Burgess , a loving husband, father and son departed this life on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 at the age of 43.
Lawrence was born in Jersey City, NJ, on February 28, 1977. He was the only child of Ms. Gail Burgess and Mr. Marcus Jackson. Lawrence resided in Jersey City until he moved to South Carolina. He attended Stratford High School in Goose Creek, SC where he was a member of the Stratford Knights basketball and football team. Lawrence later attended Benedict College in Columbia, SC. After leaving Benedict College he enlisted into the United States Army. Lawrence was employed in the Retail and Food Industry. He married the love of his life, Joy Ford, on August 15, 2011.
Lawrence was a loving and devoted father. He valued the time he spent with his children. Lawrence was also a sports fan; he loved all sports. His favorite team was the New York Giants. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends; he was known by many as "LB". Lawrence enjoyed traveling with his wife Joy. They took annual trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, one of his favorite destinations. He was known for his big teddy bear demeanor, his eminent smile and his huge heart.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved mother Gail Burgess; his wife, Joy Ford; his children, Deavion Burgess, Sr., Aaliyah Moore, Gabriel Ford, Zhaviona Burgess, Macai Ford, Briona Burgess, Amani Burgess, Jaylen Burgess, Kamari Burgess, Christian Burgess, Jamarion Burgess; one grandson, Deavion Jr.; three cherished cousins, Letitia Boden (Kourtney), Jennifer Smith, Gregory Smith (Connie Rae); Uncle, Louis Smith; God Sister, Patricia Gaskins; a special Aunt, Elouise Gaskins; Uncle, Herbert Burgess; and a host of family and friends. Lawrence was preceded in death by a cherished Aunt, Sylvia Smith; Uncles, Bishop Talbert Burgess, Willie Burgess and John Gaskins; Grandparents, Mr. Louie & Mrs. Carrie Burgess. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
