Lawrence (Pete) Britt Jr. was born on July 15, 1954, to the late Lawrence Britt Sr. and Alice Marie Jones Britt. He was called home by our heavenly father on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, after a brief illness.

At an early age, he joined Bethel A.M.E. church where he attended Sunday school. Upon his return to St. George, he joined Bethel A.M.E.'s Male Chorus.

He was known in the community as Pete. Lawrence was educated in Dorchester County school system. He graduated in 1972 from St. George high school and after graduation he started employment at Branchville Manufacturing Plant, of Branchville, SC. Lawrence wanted to be all he could be so he decided to join the United States Army in 1977. He served his country with dedication for eight years and was honorably discharged in 1985. Upon the completion of his enlistment and service to his country he was employed at the Patent and Trademark Office of the United States government in Washington DC. Lawrence retired from the United States Patent and Trademark office after 31 years of employment.

After his retirement he remained in the DC, and Maryland area where he made numerous friends and associates. Lawrence never met a person that didn't become a friend. He continued his service to God and affiliated himself with New Samaritan Baptist church Washington DC, where he joined the Usher Board and Male Chorus. Lawrence enjoyed spending time with friends, associates and family at gatherings where there was music. He was known to get the party started by getting on the dance floor and not leaving until the music stopped.

Lawrence had a gentle and sweet spirit and to know him was to love him. He was known to get your phone number and would always give a call or a text. His conversations were always filled with laughter and information. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Lawrence Ning Britt Sr. and Alice Marie Jones Britt.

He leaves to cherish beautiful memories of him three sisters Norma Britt Felder (George), Melva Britt Jennings (Steven), and Eva Britt of St. George SC; and two brothers, Daniel Britt of Virginia Beach VA, and Lawrence Stevens of Bowman SC. Two loving aunts Thelma Glover of Washington DC and Gloria Brown of St. George SC. One prominent uncle John H. Britt (Corrine) of St. George, SC.; four nephews, Jaleel Jennings of Charleston SC, Steven Jennings (Shannon) of Orlando FL, Noah Cherry-Britt of Virginia Beach VA and Lawrence Stevens of Reeseville, SC. Three nieces, Janay Jennings of Ladson SC, Destiny Britt of Miami FL, and Juanita Stevens of Reeseville, SC; four great nephews Braxton, Maverick, Roman Jennings of Orlando FL and Jayceon Stevens of Reeseville, SC. He also leaves to cherish fond memories of him special cousins and friends Patricia Jefferson, Tamika Glover of Washington DC, Mary Jane Gilliam of Beavers Falls PA., Ernest Gaines of Bowie MD and a host of loving family in Washington, DC, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Michigan and South Carolina. Especially fond memories of his esteemed and charismatic class of 1972.
