Kissler Uleysee Samuel Garvin peacefully transitioned on June 8, 2022 at his home.  He was born February 19, 1932 to the late Adam & Florence Footman Garvin.

Kissler was joined in holy matrimony to the late Willie Mae Johnson Garvin who preceded him in death.  He was also preceded in death by twelve siblings.

He was a true man of God!! He joined Good Hope Baptist Church and accepted Christ at a young age.  He then moved his membership to Capernaum Baptist Church where he served as the chairman of the Deacon Board for many years.  As he got older, he joined the Harvey Chapel Baptist Church.

He was a graduate of Williams Memorial High School.  He attended Denmark Technical College and received a certificate in Carpentry.  He also received a certificate from Orangeburg Calhoun Technical College in Welding.  He retired from Lafarge Cement Plant in 1996 after being employed over thirty years.  He served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer.  He was also the first African American Police Officer in St. George, SC.

Precious memories of his great legacy will forever be treasured by three sons, Richard (Vanessa) Johnson of Holly Hill, SC, Cato (Linda) Johnson and James Curtis (Loreatha) Garvin both of St. George, SC; four daughters, Reluncher (Earnest) Johnson of Ft. Pierce, FL, Barbara A. Johnson and Eula Lee (Odell) Riley both of St. George, SC and Eula Mae (George) Williams of Orangeburg, SC; one granddaughter, reared in the home, Chiyono V. (Greg) Westbury of St. George, SC; three brothers, Dea. Raymond Garvin of St. George, SC, Bro. Alebert Garvin of Dorchester, SC and Rev. Dr. McKelvie C. Garvin of Spartanburg, SC; two sisters, Sis. Fannie Garvin of St. George, SC and Sis. Rodella Shuler of Brooklyn, NY; one sister-in-law, Sis. Eva Garvin of St. George, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  He was an awesome husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great, great grandfather.
