Obituary

Kenneth Lewis, the second child of Amos Lewis and the late Bessie Ruth Britt Lewis, was born September 20, 1955 in St. George, (Texas Community) SC.

Kenny spent his toddler years in the community prior to relocating to Florida with the family. He attended the Cuyler Elementary School, Madison Middle School and graduated from Astronaut High School of Titusville. He pursued a degree in Mortuary Science and decided three months before graduation from Miami-Dade College that a life in funeral service was not for him. While in college he was employed by the Miami International Airport in baggage department.

He spent several years in South Florida working in masonry and stucco in the construction industry. After returning to Brevard County, he worked for various contractors but perfected his trade with James Kelly Plastering Co. Kenny's talent took him across the United States, Caribbean Islands, private homes, and he was very proud of the many structures he worked on. He kept photographs of the many beautiful buildings that he and his crew were responsible for.

Kenny received his Christian education at the Mims Church of God, where he attended with his mother. During his marriage to the late Sudie Williams Lewis, he attended Mt. Moriah A.M.E. Church of Cocoa, FL. On special occasions and after the death of his wife, he visited St. James Missionary Baptist Church in Mims, FL.

Everyone who knew Kenny can attest to his love of fishing. He spent many days deep sea fishing or out on the lake in his boat. Kenny's cure for difficult times or a celebration was a good ole outdoor fish fry. His presence will be greatly missed among his numerous fishing friends, buddies, and as the head fryer at the Lewis family Memorial Day fish fry. He loved coming to South Carolina and visiting with family and friends of the community; Kenny looked forward to making his home there. He often spoke about the things he learned on the farm from his Papa Archie.

The sudden loss of his presence on Wednesday, May 23, 2012, has devastated his family, however with a deep abiding faith and trust in God, the family relies on the promise that He Would never leave nor forsake his own.
