Obituary

Kay Frances McMillan, beloved and respected by family, friends, students and those who lives crossed hers was born on May 6, 1936 to Emma Jane and Joe Nathan Hudson. She transitioned from life peacefully on October 26, 2021 as she did everything in life… on her and God's terms. To the very end, and even with fading memory she was the spicy, sassy, kind and loving force to be reckoned with that made you smile all the way to your heart.

Kay McMillan spent her exemplary life dedicated to God, her family, church, community and the caring, support and education of students over her 36 year career as a teacher. Her years of service were honored at 34 years with an Award as Teacher of the Year for School District 4. As a pillar of the community, Kay McMillan's service also includes President of Women's Auxiliary, being a Sunday School teacher and life-long dedicated member of Good Hope Baptist Church, member of the Order of Eastern Star, member of Rotary, founding member of Now Ladies Inc., being a Den Mother for Boys Scouts and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

Kay is preceded in death by her best friend and husband Raymond McMillan, her parents Emma Jane and Joe Nathan Hudson, her sister Deborah Stephens, her brother Theodore Hudson and a host of other family members.

Kay Frances McMillan leaves to cherish her memory and continue her legacy, her two children, Mildred McMillan and Ramon Demetrius McMillan, grandson Zhi McMillan, daughter-in-law Alexis Stackhouse, son-in-law, Ian Scott, a host of nieces, nephews, a multitude of relatives, God-children, generations of students, friends and all other lives she touched on her journey.

And in her favorite phrase, so many of us remember….

"Life is like a little red wagon… You can push it, pull it or sit in it and cry."
