Reverend Julius Britt, Jr. affectionately known as "Duke" was born July 18, 1947, to the late
Henry and Roxanna Britt in St. George, SC. He was summoned by God's heavenly angels on Thursday, April 19,
2012, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Reverend Britt received his education at Williams Memorial High School. He continued his education in the School
of Religion at Morris College and later attended Carolina Theological Bible Institute, Bowman, SC. He earned an
Honorary Doctorates Degree in Theological Studies. For many years he was employed as a truck driver and later
devoted his skills to Gifford Hill Cement Company where he performed as a utility worker. Rev. Britt ventured into
entrepreneurship as owner and operator of Britt's Car Care Center and Britt's Vault Company. He later became
employed by the Department of Social Services transporting patients to their appointments.

Reverend Britt accepted salvation at an early age at Bethel Baptist Church, St. George, SC, where he served on the
church's Executive Board, Secretary of the Trustee Board, and President and Advisor of the Young Adult Choir. He
was always willing to serve in any capacity where needed.
In February 1976, Rev. Britt received his calling into the Ministry. He became the Assistant Pastor and later Pastor
of Bethel Baptist Church. In December 1976, he became the Assistant Pastor of Gethsemane Baptist Church,
Cordova, SC and in 1977; he served as full time Pastor. In 1982, he added to his work, the pastoral care of Pilgrim
Baptist Church of Midway, SC. In 1983, God blessed him to further increase his pastoral services by adding
Galilee Baptist Church in Round O, SC.

Reverend Britt served as former moderator of the Bethel Union. He was a past member of the Masonic Bright Star
#50, Sons and Daughters of Job, C.B.A.A., and The Royal Arch Lodge. He also served as a member of the local
branch of the NAACP. He was the past president of the Mt. Olive Baptist Sunday School Convention, Vice President
of the Colleton County Ministerial Alliance, Treasurer of the St. George Ministerial Alliance and Executive Board
Clerk for the Lovely Hill Baptist Association. Rev. Britt also served as marshal and instructor at the Carolina
Theological Bible Institution of Bowman, SC.

He has one brother, John Henry Britt, four sisters, Cammie Beekem, Thomasenia Walker, Henry B. McFadden,
and Hazel Pankey; four brothers-in-law, Jessie Beekem, Ivor A. Walker, John Pankey and Israel G. Myers, one
grandson, Kristin Marion; one great grandson, Arez Sharper, who all preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: his devoted and loving wife of 42 years, Gloria J. Myers Britt of St. George,
SC; three daughters, Ilesa (Joseph) Heyward of Moncks Corner, SC; Paula Tra of Summerville, SC and Paulette
(Wilbert) Walker of St. George, SC; one son, Julius Britt, III, St. George, SC; two brothers, Rev. Jesse Britt of
St. George, SC; Willie Gene Britt of Brooklyn, NY; two sisters, Maxine Britt, St. George, SC; Joanne Lawrence,
Summerville, SC; five brothers-in-law, John G. Myers, Hezekiah Myers, John H. Myers, Isiah Myers and Rufus
McFadden; five sisters-in-law, Yolanda E. Britt, Ida Britt, Christina Myers, Gloria Myers and Fannie Myers; eleven
grandchildren, Phillip Sharper, Justin Heyward, Kayla Heyward, TaShira Britt, Deion Walker, Shatira Cummings,
Tatyana Cummings, Destiny Tra, Desmond Marion and Carolina Spencer; two great-granddaughters, Aubrey
Sharper and Nylah Sharper and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
