Obituary

Joseph Brownlee, son of the late Abbie Lee Lewis Brownlee and Ned Brownlee, Sr., was born in St. George, SC, September 20, 1954. He departed tis earthly realm one day after his birthday on September 21, 2014 at Colleton Regional Hospital after a brief illness.

Joseph grew up in the Texas Community and attended the public schools of Dorchester County and Walterboro Vocation School.

Joseph lived a quiet life and was known for being kind and helpful. He is most remembered as being the maintenance man at the laundry mat. He was adept at repairing any washer or dryer and enjoyed his job. He also did many odd jobs in the area.

Joseph was especially close to his parents and siblings. Ned and Lucious preceded him in death a little over two years ago. Joseph became the chauffeur for his sister Virginia, the only surviving sibling. If he was without a vehicle, it didn't deter him from his obligations. He was seen many days walking or riding his bicycle to his destination.

Joseph was not officially a member of any local church but his cousin, "Lois" witnessed to him regarding the unconditional love of Jesus Christ. He was encouraged by his uncle to attend church and his reply was "I will". Only God knows the true state of a man's heart.

Other survivors include his three nieces: Najia, Brittany and Canadra Brownlee all of St. George, SC; uncle, Amos Lewis of Mims, FL; great-uncle, John Wesley Lewis of Seville, FL; many cousins and his friends in St. George.
