Johnny Britt, Sr. was summoned home by God's heavenly Angels on February 28, 2021 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, South Carolina.

Johnny was born September 30, 1930 in Branchville, South Carolina to the late General Britt and Bertie Haynes Britt. He was the fifth child in a family of ten siblings.  He grew up in Texas Community, St. George, SC with all his family and friends.

Johnny was affectionately known by family and friends as "Pap".  At an early age Pap joined St. Mark Baptist Church where he served as a Sexton and Trustee.  As a young teenager Pap moved to Brooklyn, New York.  He lived in New York for more than twenty-five years before he returned to South Carolina.  While in New York he attended Brownsville Community Baptist Church.  Pap attended Barber School in Brooklyn, NY and became a Master Barber.  During his time in New York, he worked as a Crane Operator while maintaining his own business serving as a Master Barber.  When his job as a crane operator ended, he moved back to South Carolina with his family.  In 1976 he built Bright Star Social Club and a barber shop.  He continued to operate his business until his brief illness.  He served as a barber for seventy years.  Pap was a Mason with Bright Star Lodge # 50 in Texas Community.  He was also one of the founders of the Memorial Day Picnic, which he enjoyed.

In 1956 he married the love of his life Shirley Ann Sanders.  They were married for 50 years when she passed away in 2006.  This union was blessed with four children.

Pap was preceded in death by three brothers, Hezekiah, Rufus and Jethro; three sisters, Martha, Earlene and Bertha Lee.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his children, Randy (Sharon) Britt, Barbara (Joe) Oden, Johnny (Angela) Britt, Jr. and Nancy (Lamont) Stevens; three brothers, Isaac Britt, Reverend General (Queen) Britt, Jr., John (Rena) Britt; three sisters-in-law, Helen Whitely, Shirley Britt and Louise Sanders; one brother-in-law, James Segar; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Pap was a loving person who loved everyone.  He loved the people in his community as they were his children.  He will truly be missed by the entire Texas Community and surrounding communities.
