Brother John Henry Simmons was called to eternal peace and rest on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.

John was born December 2, 1952 in Dorchester County to Herbert and Virginia Simmons, who preceded him in death.

He attended the public schools of Dorchester County, graduating from St. George High School with the class of 1973.

At an early age he joined St. Luke United Methodist Church of Grover, SC, the current New Grace Methodist Church.

He was joined into holy matrimony to Sarah Ann Simmons on October 29, 1977.  To this union two children were born.

To cherish his fond memories his children, Aria Simmons of Atlanta, GA and Jonathan Simmons (Latoya) of Irmo, SC; three brothers, James A. Simmons (Maybleen) of Summerville, SC, Hebert Simmons, Jr. (Pamala) and Derrick Simmons (Angela)  all of St. George, SC; four sisters, Ida Lee Simmons of Rowesville, SC, Dorothy Jenkins, Margaret Kelly (William) all of St. George, SC and Mazie Brown of Charlotte, NC; two sisters-in-law, Kim Sweat and Robin Sweat of York, PA; three brothers-in-law, James Turkvant (Reneshae) of Douglasville, GA, Lewis Turkvant (Bernice) and Timothy Turkvant all of Harleyville, SC; three grandchildren, Keishawn Simmons, Jaquan Simmons and Jonna Simmons all of Irmo, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
