Brother John Louis Rhames (Louis) as he was lovingly called transitioned in the Heavenly Realm on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, 5:05 p.m. at his home surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness.

Louis was born to the late Rev. Esau and Cora Lee Rhames on January 1, 1944 in Harleyville, SC. He was the oldest of 18 children.

At an early age he joined Elem Baptist Church, where he fellowshipped his entire life.

He was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County and attended Jenkins Hill High School. He was a former employee of Westbury Trucking Co. Later being an employee of Giant Cement Co. Harleyville, SC, where he retired.

He leaves to cherish precious and loving memories, his loving and devoted wife, Carolyn of the home; two daughters, Wanda Johnson of Dorchester, SC and Cynthia (Kevin) Cobbs of St. George, SC; one son, Eddie L. Rhames, of Dorchester, SC; one granddaughter, Adasia Johnson reared in the home; his stepmother, Annie L. Rhames of Canadys, SC; one step sister, Maguardie (Albert) Simon of Bowman, SC; seven sisters, Min. Patricia (Alonzo) Johnson, Joann (Johnnie) Johnson, Min. Clarene (Min. Alfred) Singletary and Annette (Kenneth) Gaddist all of Harleyville, SC, Elizabeth (Andrew) Felder and Edna (Edwin) Boyd both of St. George, SC and Janqueline Smalls of Summerville, SC; five brothers, Dea. Esau (Mary) Rhames of Roosevelt, NY, Ronald Rhames of Moticello, NY, Joseph Rhames of Rochester, NY, Herman Rhames and Alvin Rhames both of Harleyville, SC; seven grandchildren, Eddie, Saderia, LaSir, Kavian, Emoni and Alexus; one great grandchild, Saria; six sisters-in-law; additional brothers-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
