On Wednesday, June 6, 2018, in the stillness of t he morning; with a gentle out reached hand, God whispered, "John, come with me to the home that I promised you".  Then without a good-bye he left us for his home on high.

John Smith, Jr., was born February 18, 1946 in Dorchester County to the late John Smith, Sr. and the late Eartha M. Green Smith.

"Juicy", as he was affectionately known by most, was educated in the schools of Dorchester County.  He was a graduate of Kennedy High School, Harleyville, SC.

He was a lifetime member of the Morris Chapel Church family where he sang on the Gospel Choir, served on the Finance Committee and United Methodist Men.  He worked faithfully to help keep the church moving forward.

John was a man of few words, a true gentle giant, but a man of many talents.  He worked for many years with George Glen Contracting as a bricklayer; many in the area will be displaying his handy brickwork for years to come.  His retirement came after 18 years with Dorchester County Water & Sewer.

On September 3, 1984, he was united in love and Holy Matrimony with Loretta Adams.

John was an unselfish, caring and humble man.  He was always willing to extend a helping hand.  John seemed to have a way with animals especially his chickens.  He also had a great love for fishing and hunting.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Eugene (Cefus), and Elijah (Jessie); one sister, Shirley; one son, Keith.

John's sweet memories will be cherished forever in the heart of his devoted wife, Loretta of the home; two daughters, Gwin of St. George, SC and Bridgette of North Augusta, SC; seven brothers, Peter (Margaret), and Andrew (Norma) both of Dorchester, SC, Leroy (Sharon) of Fort Worth, TX, Dave of Virginia Beach, VA, James (Brenda) of Cottageville, SC, Alfred of Atlanta, GA, and Alexander (Rochelle) of Dorchester, SC; one aunt, Reather Bember of Bridgeport, CT; seven grandchildren, three great grands; a special friend, Brenda Summers Smith; a special niece, Teronda Britt; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
