John Lewis Johnson "Rooster" was the son of the late Reverend Louis Britt, Jr. and Reather Mae Willis.  He was the grandson of the late Peter and Ida Mae Johnson, Mary Britt and the late Isreal Britt.  He was born on September 15, 1972 in Charleston, SC.  John Lewis departed this life on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at his home in Shady Grove, SC, where he resided with his mother.

John began attending school at Bowman Elementary.   He graduated from St. George High School in 1991, where he participated as a member of the football team, playing defensive and running back for the Eagles.  He was also named the "Most Wittiest" by his classmates and friends.  He later moved to Bronx, NY in the early 90's where he resided for thirteen years, until moving back to be with his family.  He began working for Dorchester County in 2009 as a Motor Equipment Operator until the time of his death.

John was a friendly, kind hearted person and one that made many friends with his loving spirit.  He leaves loving memories to be cherished by his children, Dirondi Kasaan Andre Johnson of Columbia, SC, Shaquille Smalls of Harleyville, SC and Zamir Brothers of Bowman, SC; one grandson, Amari Smalls; three brothers, McRae (Jaynell) Willis of Norfolk, VA, Peter (Neisha) Willis and Julius Jackson both of Columbia, SC; one sister, Vanessa Earl of Germany; one special sister, Sylvia Thomas of Orangeburg, SC; Aunts, Emma (Brunson) Hillard of Columbia, SC, Betty (Richard) Edmiston of Laurel, MD, Phillipine J. Wheeler of St. Matthews, SC, Josette (Ernest) Bryd of Orangeburg, SC and Linda Carol Davis of Orlando, FL; Uncles, Clifford (Shirley Ann) Johnson of St. George, SC and Peter (Jeanette) Johnson, Jr. of Forestville, MD; he also had a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; A special friend and riding partner, John Brown.
