John Hunt Jr., was born October 21, 1937 to the late John Sr. and Mary Dantzler Hunt. He departed this life on January 25, 2019, after a brief illness. He was 81 years old. He was preceded in death by his son, John III; brothers, Harry Lee and Milton Nathaniel and an infant sister, Earlene.
John, also known as "Bubba", was educated in the Dorchester County school system.
His first marriage was at an early age in June of 1957. He married the then Ruby Mae Collier (now deceased). They moved to Brooklyn, NY in 1958. This union produced two children; John III and Sharon (Shell).
John was not shy about meeting people. He typically made his presence felt with loud laughter, "trash talk", or a good joke.
John (Bubba) was a jack of all trades. He dabbled in carpentry, car mechanics, plumbing, and more recently tombstones. His most successful business venture was when he owned and operated a board and care for recovering addicts and those newly released from prison. This business was established while living in L.A. California.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; a daughter, Sharon Hunt of Charlotte, NC; two sisters, Elizabeth Moorer and Rosalee White, both of Summerville, SC; a granddaughter, Alisha of Columbia, SC; a grandson, John Andre IV of Rock Hill, SC; a great grandson Andre Cleve II of Rock Hill, SC. There are also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
