Obituary

John K. Brown, 91, of Summerville, South Carolina, departed this life February 26, 2017. He was affectionately known to his family as "John K."

John was born in St. George, South Carolina on December 31, 1925 to Luther and Pearlie Brown. John was one of eight children, five of which preceded him in death. John attended schools in Dorchester County, South Carolina. At an early age, he joined St. Mark United Methodist Church, where he served faithfully.

John enlisted in the United States Army in 1944. He served during World War II from 1944 to 1945 where he was stationed in Europe and served under General George S. Patton. After serving in Europe, John concluded his military service in the Philippines in 1946. Upon his return home, he moved to New York, where he met and married Edith Noel, who preceded him in death. He later married Thelma Scott, who also preceded him in death. Upon retirement in New York, John relocated to Summerville, South Carolina.

John was known among his family and friends for his sense of humor, love of photography and videography.

John leaves to cherish his memories, three children, Claudia Regina Brown, Darlene Ravenell, and John Anthony Brown; granddaughter, Olivia Marshall; stepson, raised in the home, Larry Scott; one brother, Ordie C. Brown; and one sister, Pearline M. B. Glass, and a host of other family members and friends.
