Joe Siah Coaxum was born May 30, 1947 to the late Mannie Siah and Ruby Coaxum in Round O, SC. He departed this life on Thursday, March 27, 2014 after an extended illness.
Joe joined Canaan Baptist Church at an early age. He later moved his membership to Bethel Baptist Church. He served both churches diligently until his health declined. Joe attended the Public Schools of Colleton County.
He married Connie Lewis on August 17, 1968. To this union one son was born, Jamaya Coaxum.
Joe was a devoted husband and father. He loved and cherished his family and friends.
After marriage Joe began to work in the construction industry. He was General Superintendent for W. Frazier Construction Co. and AVA Construction Corporation, Foreman for Oak Harbor Construction, Heavy Equipment Operator for Greenwood Construction and in 1997 he went into business for himself.
He leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Connie Lewis Coaxum of the home; one son, Jamaya of the home; three sisters, Sarah (Joe) Golf and Mae Frances (Harry) Brown both of Walterboro, SC and Luetricia (Spencer) Coaxum of Savannah, GA; two brothers, Charlie Coaxum and George (Gloria) Coaxum both of Round O, SC; mother-in-law, Pauline Bryant of St. George, SC; one brother-in-law, Frank Chandler of St. George, SC; one sister-in-law, Marie Coaxum of Cottageville, SC; two aunts, Jewell Collier of Walterboro, SC and Bernell Murray of Mt. Holly, NJ; one uncle, David Lewis of St. George, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
