Mrs. Joanne L. Summers, passed away peacefully, Thursday, April 8, 2021.  She was born on December 26, 1949 in Harleyville, South Carolina, the daughter of the late Jerry and Julia Brooks Lawton.

Joanne was a member of St. Daniel United Methodist Church.

Joanne was joined in marriage to Bennie Summers in February  1965.  This union was blessed with two sons and two daughters.

Joanne retired from Dorchester School District Four.

Joanne enjoyed listening to her favorite music, singing on the choir and playing her all time favorite, Spades. She was a kind and loving person who would do her best to help anyone in need.

Joanne was preceded in death by her husband Bennie Summers of Harleyville, South Carolina.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted sons, Malcolm (Ethel Lee) Summers of Orangeburg, SC and  Alexander (Stephanie) Summers of Jacksonville, FL; two loving daughters, Elaine (Andrew) Wright, of Athens, GA and LaTari (Delvin) Davis, of Orangeburg, SC; two brothers, Johnny Lawton of Charleston, SC and George Lawton of Harleyville, SC; two sisters, Eula Lee Mack of Harleyville, SC and Barbara Lawton of Charleston, SC; twelve grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; her sister (friend), Lauria Boyd of Ridgeville, SC; a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
