Jerry Vern Boyd Jr, was the son of the late Bertha Lee Goodwin Boyd and the late Jerry Boyd Sr. Jerry Vern was born in Dorchester County, South Carolina, December 13, 1939. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Trident Regional Medical Center, North Charleston, South Carolina.

Jerry Vern attended Williams Memorial High School. At an early age he became a member of Bethel A.M.E. Church, St. George, SC. Jerry Vern was a good helper, dedicated salesman, had a variety of cars, raced cars, loved to travel and enjoyed fishing.

Jerry Vern married Pearlie M. Gilbert January 13, 1961, to this union was blessed with three daughters.

Jerry Vern was a faithful and dedicated employee at South Carolina Department of Transportation for over thirty years. He was also employed with Jordan Pontiac Company. Shortly after retirement from S.C. Depart. of Transportation, Jerry Vern began work at LeClaire Reeves in Reevesville, SC until 2014.

Jerry Vern leaves to cherish fond memories: His wife, Pearlie M. Boyd; his three daughters, Kimesther (Anthony) Ross, Lake City, South Carolina, Louvern (Bobby) Walker, Orangeburg, South Carolina, and Charlyene Wamer, Reevesville, South Carolina. Three sisters, Susie L. Woodard, New York, N.Y., Evelyn Weiters and Mildred Boyd of St. George, S.C. three brothers, Louis Elijah Boyd (UniHealth Post –Acute Care) Moncks Corner, S.C., Eugene Jerome (Betty) Boyd, Sr., and Leonard Allen (Judy) Boyd, St. George, S.C.; one uncle, Harold Simmons, St. Augustine, Fl.; sisters-in-law, Emma (Marvin) Britt, St. George, S.C.; Vivian (Willie) Rice and Deloris (Jackie) Evans and brother -in-law Arthur Banks of Reevesville, S.C.; grandchildren, Teonna M. Walker, Emanuel C. Wamer, Bobby L. Walker and Kimani A. Ross; special nephew James K. Weiters, friend Deloris Elmore and Jeremy Elmore whom he nurtured , a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
