Mrs. Jannie Lee Davis Wade was born March 8, 1928, in Dorchester County. She was the beloved daughter of the later Eddie Davis and Nora Singletary Davis. On Monday, October 1, 2012, Jannie departed this life at The Hospice Care Center of Charleston.

Jannie attended the public schools of Dorchester County. She always stressed the importance of getting an education to her family and reminded them that she had to work in the fields and was not afforded the opportunity to attend school regularly.
Jannie accepted Christ in her life and was a devoted member of the former St. Luke United Methodist Church now New Grace United Methodist Church. She was involved in various ministries to include: the Usher Board, Advisor for the Young Adult Choir, the Senior Choir, and the United Methodist Women. She was a member of a community quartet group, The Spiritual Aires, where she glorified the Lord through her love of singing and fellowshipping with other group members.

Jannie believed in working hard and being on time to work. While living in Trenton, New Jersey, she worked at the Trenton Doll factory for several years. After returning to South Carolina, she was an employee of Walterboro Dress Factory, Country Miss in Walterboro, SC, Carolina Girls Wear and home Elderly Care in St. George, South Carolina. She was also an Avon Representative for many years.
Jannie's hobbies included crocheting for family, friends and the community.

Jannie was a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Though she is no longer with us, the lessons she taught and the love she shared will forever be remembered.

Jannie was united in holy matrimony to Alton Wade on February 5, 1949. To this union five children were born.

Her husband, two brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Jannie leaves to cherish her most precious memoires, two devoted sons, Alton Wade, Jr. of Warner Robin, Georgia and Lurenda Wade of Ogden, Utah; three loving daughters, Catherine "Jackie" Risher of St. George, South Carolina, Carolyn Walton and Herline Wade both of Trenton, New Jersey; one son-in-law, Joseph Risher of St. George, SC; twelve grandchildren, Ronda (Reverend Douglas) Simmons of Orangeburg, South Carolina, Lamont (Tomika) Wade of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Davonia Wade of Rock Hill, South Carolina, Rena Risher, Ivery Wade, Destiny Koch-Wade, Ruthie Koch, and Donna (Edward) Melville all of Trenton, New Jersey, Cole (Amber) Orgill of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jason Wade of Salt Lake City, Utah, Alonzo Wade and Clay Wade of Odgen, Utah; sixteen great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Minnie Mae Davis of Burlington, New Jersey and Clara Wade of Walterboro, South Carolina ; a special cousin and caregiver, Barbara Singletary of St. George, South Carolina and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
