Janet Summerson Grant, affectionately known as Lizzie Puddin was born November 15, 1949 to John L and Mattie Collier Summerson. She was born and raised in Holly Hill, South Carolina and graduated from Roberts High School.

At an early age Janet joined Briner Christian Church and served as a member on the ushers' ministry.  Later in life she married Mr. Henry Rushing and of this union a son and daughter was born. She later met and married the late Johnnie Lee Grant and in this union a daughter was born. They decided to leave Holly Hill and move to Miami, FL where she attended and graduated from Robert Fiance Cosmetology School. She then worked throughout the area for several families as their caretakers. While living in Miami she joined St. Johns AME Church.  After living in Miami, FL for years she decided to move back to South Carolina and reestablished her membership at Briner Christian Church and faithfully served as an usher, later became the president over the usher's ministry, she served as a choir member and the women's ministry, as well as the pastor's aid board. After many years of service at Briner she moved her membership to Zion Pilgrim Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Allen Johnson and served as an usher and vice president for the pastor's aid board. She later became a member of Horizon Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Allen Johnson and served faithfully as an usher and pastors aid president until her health caused her to release her positions.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents, John L. and Mattie Summerson, her husband, Johnnie Lee Grant, two sisters, Audrey Wright and Emma Perkins, one brother, John Summerson Jr.

Those left to cherish loving memories are her children, Eric Rushing of Orlando, FL, Lutricia Johnson (Allen) Johnson of Summerville, SC, Johnique (Henry) Watson of Summerville, SC, two sisters, Mildred Amaker of Harleyville, SC, Deloris (Stova Lee) Davis of Boyer, SC, two brothers, Charles (Patricia) Summerson of Boyer, SC, James Summerson of Holly Hill, SC, 9 grandchildren, Amari, Omari, Johnterry, Navari, Arria, Nykeya, Brittany, Alaysia, and Kismi 5 great grandchildren 3 sister in laws Clara (George) Martin, Marie Hamrick, Donna Grant, one brother in law Tommie Grant, Jr all of Summerville, one special friend, Lois Void of Eutawville, a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
