James Allen Cobbs (AKA) "Smokey" answered God's call into eternal peace on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Trident Regional Hospital, North Charleston, SC, after an extended illness.
James was born August 17, 1949 in Dorchester County, the son of the late Mary Lee Glover Cobbs and Maliachi Cobbs, Sr. He was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County.
James was united in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Rosetta Riley for forty three years. This union was blessed with two loving and handsome sons.
James held many jobs in the Lowcountry and retired from his last job, Republic Services in Charleston, SC. After retirement, he continued to enjoy spending time with his grandchildren, family, and friends and just simply watching TV, International Car Racing, or a movie (mostly Westerns) after an honest day of work.
James was preceded in death by one son, Terrence Martino and one brother, Jimmy Lee Cobbs.
He leaves to cherish his precious and loving memories from the heart, his loving, devoted and dedicated wife, Rosetta R. Cobbs of the home; two loving sons, James Allen (Pamela) Cobbs, Jr. and Shawn (Nicole) Cobbs both of St. George, SC; ten grandchildren, Deshaun, Treshaun, Shadiamond, Alquan, Mikya, Rhianna, Keyonta, Teonna, Jacob and Tysheema; one brother, Maliachi (Cynthia) Cobbs; three sisters, Deloris (David) Harrell, Georgia (Ervin, Sr.) Senior and Monlethia Cobbs all of St. George, SC; two sisters-in-law, Daisy (Charlie) Green, Jr. and Louise (Johnnie) Kelly both of St. George, SC; seven brothers-in-law, James David Riley, Samuel Riley, Clarence Riley, Kelvin Riley, Harold Hopkins and Daniel Haynes all of St. George, SC and Joseph (Josephine) Riley of Jacksonville, FL; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
