Ida was born on September 2nd 1926 to the late Marty and Idella Singletary of Saint George, sc. She was the third of fifteen children. She was educated in the Dorchester County School System. She moved to Brooklyn New York and married the late Mack Belser.

She worked many years in New York City as a CNA in hospitals, nursing facilities and for private agencies. She also was a talented, unique designer of clothing for many companies. Ida often made many trips to be back home to be a part of the births of her nieces and
nephews. She came home to take care of her mother due to declining
health. She was a faithful disciple of Jerusalem Baptist Church.

Ida married the late Deacon John Henry Britt in September 1985,
whom she loved very much and he loved her the same. The two of
them appeared together as a bright light in the room with their smiles, happiness and love for one another. They loved to travel and one of their favorite places to visit was St. Augustine, FL. She joined Bethel Baptist Church where she became a Deaconess serving in the church alongside her husband in support of advancing the kingdom of God. Ida served on many auxiliaries including the JBC Combined Choir, Lovely Hill Convention Choir, JBC Missionary Society, Jerusalem Pastor's Aid and Treasurer with Bethel Union for many years.

Ida cherished life with her entire family, both young and old,
especially the grands. In her later years, she would travel near and far to show support to her loved ones. She would often give them advice like "give it to the Lord" and "don't take no wooden nickels". As a Mother, Aunt, Sister and Friend, she always kept the joy of the Lord in her heart and a word of wisdom to help others along the way. One of her favorite sayings, "don't think you have the world in a jug in one hand, and the stopper in the other; remember THERE IS A GOD".

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving sister, Mrs. Lorraine
McMillan; children; grand-children; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Loved ones who preceded her in death, brothers, Willie, Clarence,
Jack, Samson, Albert and Richard Singletary; sisters, Renee
Singletary, Mable Hodges, Lillie Singletary, Larlie Bea Utsey, Gertie
Singletary, Inez Garvin Toomer, and a host of nieces and nephews.
