Heyward Brothers was born on November 1, 1954, in St. George, South Carolina. He was the only son born to the late Henry and Emma Mae Lewis Brothers.

Heyward was educated in the Dorchester County School System in South Carolina. In his late teenage years, he ventured out the South Carolina and traveled east, eventually settling in Boston, Massachusetts. Heyward continued his education by enrolling in the American Business Institute in the early 1970's. while there he met the love of his life, Yvette Alexander. They courted and he knew then that she would one day become his wife. That special day came. On November 28, 1998, Heyward and Yvette were joined in Holy Matrimony.

Heyward was a fun-loving, caring and good-hearted man. He deeply loved his family and adored his many nieces and nephews. He also had a multitude of friends; and always finding time to call and "checkup" on everyone. Be it family members, friends, or loved ones of friends, Heyward cared very much about the well-being of everyone he loved. He was loved and respected by all and those blessed to have known him well, will always remember the laughter that would fill a room when he would put his spin on a story. Heyward spent a lot of time listening to music. He loved his R&B oldies and smooth jazz. Heyward was also an avid and sharp pool player.

Heyward truly enjoyed helping others. This is evident in his choice of career. He worked as a personal care attendant for many years. He was employed by Partners Healthcare At Home and was on his way to become fully licensed by the State of Massachusetts in Private Care.

Heyward accepted Christ in his life and joined the New Hope Baptist Church in 1998. He worshipped there on Sunday, January 9th just hours before God saw fit to say, well done and called his son home during the early morning of January 10th, 2011.

Heyward leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Yvette Alexander Brothers of Boston, MA; step-daughter, Nicole Alexander of Jersey City, NJU; three devoted sisters, Carrie Lewis of Boston, MA, Armie (Willie) Mikell of Boston, MA; and Laura Brothers of Hyde Park, MA; two loving aunts, Pauline Bryant of St. George, SC and Pauline Lewis of Dorchester, SC; a special uncle, David Lewis of St. George, SC; loved-like-a-son, Orlando Myers of Revere, MA; dear friend, Fred Attlebridge of Boston, MA; much-loved nieces and nephews; very special first and second cousins; and a host of many dear relatives and friends.
