Herman Rhames was called from labor to reward on Monday, November 28, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness. He was born on October 10, 1958, to the late Rev. Esau and Cora Lee Rhames and was the third youngest of 18 children.

Herman was educated in the public schools of Dorchester County and was a graduate of Harleyville-Ridgeville High School.

At an early age, he joined Elem Missionary Baptist Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ and worshipped faithfully. Later in life, he rededicated himself to the House of Prayer and Praise Baptist Church and served until his passing.

Herman was a "Jack of all trades" and excelled as a carpenter and electrician.  He also maintained the water and pump maintenance for the St. Paul Campground for the last few years.

Herman was preceded in death by five sisters, Cora Bell Rhames, Arie Bell Wright, Edna R. Boyd, Patricia Ann Johnson, and Annette Gaddist. Five Brothers, Sheldon Rhames, Bernan Rhames, John Lewis Rhames, Ronald Rhames, Joseph Rhames, and stepmother Annie L. Rhames.

Herman Rhames leaves to cherish his rich and precious memories, his wife, Marva DeLee Rhames, Syracuse NY; long-time devoted life partner, Evelyn Williams, of the home; one son, Maurice Rhames, Dorchester, SC, a daughter, Lavonyia (Joshua) Marshall, San Diego, CA; one step-son, Lavar DeLee, Dorchester, SC; one stepdaughter, Sophie Williams, Summerville, SC. Four sisters, Joann (Johnnie) Johnson of Dorchester SC, Claireen (Alfred) Singletary of Harleyville, SC, Elizabeth (Andrew) Felder of St. George SC, and Jaqueline Smalls of Summerville, SC; two brothers, Esau (Mary) Rhames of Duluth, Georgia, and Alvin Rhames of Dorchester, SC; one sister in law, Carolyn Rhames of Dorchester, SC; three  brothers in law, Oliver Wright of Dorchester, SC and Edwin Boyd of St. George, SC, and Kenneth Gaddist, Ridgeville, SC; five grandchildren, Amiyah Marshall, Amani Marshall, Ariyah Marshall, Chase Newkirk, and Evan Newkirk; two close friends from work, Neil Baily and Jim Abdella and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
