Mrs. Helen Young-Griffin, the daughter of the late Eula Lee Gilliard and Joe Young, Sr. was born September 5, 1960 in Holly Hill, SC.  She entered eternal rest on July 30, 2023 at Trident Medical Hospital following a brief illness.

Helen grew up and attended the public schools of Holly Hill and was a 1980 graduate of Holly Hill Roberts High School.  After graduating, she worked in numerous fields such as housekeeping at Clarks Inn in Santee, walking horses at Holly Hill Training Center in Holly Hill, custodial work at Vance Elementary School in Vance and finally some landscaping with W.H Rhames Landscaping of Holly Hill.

The head patter, gum popper or ice chewer as she was affectionately known by her family and friends enjoyed smiling and telling a joke to anyone in her presence.

In her later years, she became a faithful and devoted member of Miracle Faith Temple United Church of God.  There she deepened her relationship with God by volunteering on numerous committees such as The Woman's Day Committee or Church Clean Up Day.

Preceding Helen in death was her parents Eula & Joe Young, sister, Maggie L. Young and brother, Joe "Bubba" Young, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memories her husband Jackie Griffin, of the home; daughter: Shawnquena Young of St. George, SC; step children: Lois Burnett of Sumter, Audies and Elijah Griffin; five sisters:  Ms. Elizabeth L. Young of Harleyville, SC, Ms. Mattie M Young of Vance, SC, Mrs. Tennis (John) Walker of Holly Hill, SC and Ms. Sylvia M. Young of St George, SC; three brothers: Mr. William Young of Holly Hill, SC, Mr. Anthony Young of Phoenix, AZ and Mr. Abraham Young of Moncks Corner, SC; one aunt-in-law: Mrs. Roberta Young of Jamaica, NY; grandchildren: La'Kelly Young, Racheal Adgerson, Ja'Lean Adgerson, and Makakila Adgerson, one great-grandson: Ki'Mera all of St. George SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
