Deacon Harold Hopkins, Sr., departed this life in the stillness of the morning of Saturday, September 4, 2010 to join his Heavenly Father and the many beloved family members who preceded him in death. Harold Hopkins, Sr. was born on December 26, 1938, the youngest son of the late Mr. Willie and Mrs. Ossie Smith Hopkins.

At an early age Harold joined St. Mark Baptist Church. Upon moving to New York, Harold affiliated himself with Emanuel Pentecostal Faith Church. After relocating back to South Carolina in 1976, Harold reinstated his membership with the St. Mark Baptist Church. Harold served on several auxiliaries. On December 8, 2002, Harold was ordained as a Deacon. Harold was a faithful and dedicated member.

He attended the public schools in Dorchester County. He retired from Sach's Furniture Store in New York and Brosnan Forest in Dorchester, SC.

He was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mrs. Lizzie Snow Hopkins. To this union, they were blessed with four beautiful children.

Preceding him in death are five siblings -- William Edward Hopkins, Alice Haynes Gardner, Owens Hopkins, Sr., Leroy Hopkins and Ernest Hopkins, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories: two daughters, Lynn (Thurmond) Pressley and Melanie Hopkins; two sons, Harold Hopkins, Jr. and Antonio Hopkins all of St. George, SC; one step-son, Roy Cooper of Andrews, SC; one sister, Nellie R. Risher of Reevesville, SC; one brother, James Hopkins of Phoenix, AZ; eight sisters-in-law, Dorothy Hopkins, Margaret Hopkins, Lizzie Mae Hopkins, Vernell Simmons, Isabell Porcher, Blanche Varnado, Harriett Defulvio and Lillian Hines; seven brothers-in-law, Willie Risher, Arthur Gardner, Phillip Snow, Timothy Snow, Jacob Snow, Jerome Snow and Jeffery Snow; seven grandchildren, Tawanna, Thurmond, Jr., Zandra, Bianca, Felicia, Angelique and Tyrell; five great-grandchildren, Lakaylla, Timothy, Jr., Trinitee, Teona and JaMarques; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
