Harold James "Punchie" Jennings was born February 28, 1954, in St. George, South Carolina, to the late Stephen and Alma Cobbs Jennings, Harold was the fourth of eight children. He joins in eternal rest with his sisters Shirley Jennings and Clarine Jennings Simmons, his brother Roosevelt Jennings, and his son, Harold James Jennings Jr. (PJ). He gained his crown on August 3, 2025.

Harold attended Dorchester County Schools and graduated from St. George High School in 1973. In 1970, he met his "Boo," Sharon Carolyn Daniels, in a scene straight out of a rom-com: her grandmother, Rosa, invited him to ride the Ferris wheel with Sharon at the Town Fair. Love took off from that moment. They married on July 29, 1975, and their marriage became a testament to enduring devotion, blessed with four children: daughters Lucretia, Kandice, Amber, and son Harold Jr. (PJ), who preceded him in death.

Immediately after high school, Harold launched a career at Southern Bell—later AT&T—where he became affectionately known as "Mr. Telephone Man." After over 30 years of dedicated service, he retired in the early 2000s. He loved his job because it gave him the opportunity to help people daily—with his trademark humor and a listening ear.

He was a man whose laughter was as generous as his heart. Outgoing and talkative, Punchie lit up rooms with his wit and warmth, reaching out to everyone he met. He had a joke for every occasion and a lesson wrapped in every laughter-filled conversation.

His servant's heart extended far beyond the workplace. Harold coached Little League football and the Grover/Texas softball team, and mentored young men in school, his community, and his church. He had a gift for connecting, encouraging, and inspiring—always with a kind word or spirited joke.

A committed member of the United Methodist faith from an early age, Harold served faithfully at St. Luke United Methodist Church—singing in the choir and serving on the finance committee. Later at New Grace United Methodist Church, he sang in the Male Chorus and held leadership roles, pouring his gifts into worship and ministry until declining health slowed him. He was a servant of God and servant to all—especially devoted to his wife, Sharon, his lifelong partner and confidante.

He truly made an impact on everyone he met—from strangers who became friends to family who knew him as a beacon of faith, love, and laughter.

He leaves behind: his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Jennings; daughters: Lucretia Jennings Myers; Kandice Jennings Pringle (Anthony); Amber Cherrelle Jennings; grandchildren: McKenzie and Journee (granddaughters); Karter, Jeremiah, and Skylar (grandsons); siblings: Brothers Steven Jennings (Melva) and Joseph Jennings (Annette); sisters Alfreda Jennings and Brenda Jennings; honorary sister:  WilErma Britt; a loving mother-in-law, Virginia Daniels; three sisters-in-law, Rosetta Green, Angela (Ricky) Green and Santita (Lamar) Glover; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who treasured his humor, his faith, and his generous spirit Harold's legacy is one of laughter, love, and legacy. His life reflected Christ's servant heart, grounded in joy and generosity. Wherever he went, he left people better for having known him.
