Gwendolyn Denise Riser was called home to God on July 11, 2015. She was born March 9, 1961 in New York City to Nellie Ruth Risher and the late Willie Risher.
Gwen moved to Charleston, South Carolina where she became the caretaker of her grandmother, Sarah Larry until she was called home.
Gwen joined Emanuel Seed-Harvest Time Church and accepted Christ as personal savior, where she became a devoted and loved member.
Gwen attended and graduated from Louis D. Brandeis High School. She also attended Medgar Evers College. Gwen worked and retired from the Post and Courier Newspaper.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her mother, Nellie Ruth Risher of Reevesville, SC; a devoted companion, Darryl Chancy of Charleston, SC; two sisters, Michelle Risher of Brooklyn, NY and Tieysha (Charlie) Muntz of Orangeburg, SC; one brother, Willie A. Risher of New York, NY; two nephews, Travis Risher of Columbia, SC and William Hopkins of Brooklyn, NY; one great niece, Nauticiah Risher; two aunts, Margaret Hopkins of St. George, SC and Dorothy Hopkins of Bronx, NY and a host of cousins and friends.
