Mr. Gregory Wendell Ray was called home peacefully on February 7, 2023, at Orangeburg Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

Gregory was born on September 15, 1958, in Portsmouth Virginia, son of the late Betty and Alfred Ray, Jr.

Gregory accepted the Lord Jesus as his personal savior and attended Word of God Church under the leadership of Elder Renee Simmons.

Gregory had a heart of gold and was loved by everyone he met.  He enjoyed spending time with his children.  He enjoyed singing laughing and having a good time.  He would light up a room when he walked in, to know him was to love him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gene Peppers Ray.  They were joined in holy matrimony in 1981.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Lisa Ray and grandchild, Jafaie Kitt.

Gregory was a very hard worker and leaves to cherish his many memories, two daughters, Diashea J. Ray (James Watkins) of Orangeburg and Chasity Ray; two sons, Gregory (Chereta) Ray and Derrick Ray (Rodnekia Cummings) all of Saint George, SC; stepdaughter, D'Jeny Peppers. He is also survived by his brothers, Michael and Alfred Ray III and sister, Jill Ray all of Virginia; grandchildren, De'Avian and Ja'Avian Ray of Orangeburg SC, Khamiyah, and Jelanie Ray of New York, London Ray of Summerville SC, Tameya Faulkner, Kingston Watson, Heason Ray and Samuel Ray; special friend, Mary Hart; a host of other relatives and friends.
