Obituary

On Monday, July 13th, 2015, Geraldine Britt passed away. Today, we are gathered here to celebrate her life.

Geraldine Annette Wiggins was born on April 26th, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. She was a beautiful daughter and one of 6 children born to Henry Wiggins and Hattie Wiggins. Geraldine had five brothers and sisters; Richard, Louis, David, Gloria and Sheila. They were raised in a loving family and lived in New York her entire life until moving to Orangeburg, South Carolina in 2000.

Geraldine Wiggins married Ernest Britt in New York on June 28th, 1958 in Brooklyn, NY. They had three beautiful daughters, Colette, Yvonne and Nakia. They affectionately called her "Mommy" as she became the trusted Matron of the entire family through the years.

Geraldine went to Clara Barton High School in Brooklyn and went on to work as a Photography Technician for Berkeley Studios for 35 years. She was a trusted friend to many at Berkeley throughout her career. She retired at Esquire Photo Labs in 1999.

Following her retirement, Geraldine enjoyed living life in Queens but she always considered herself a resident of Brooklyn for life. Family was Geraldine's passion and delight. She loved reminiscing and seeing pictures of her grandchildren and family. She also loved the drama of Soap Operas and a good Lifetime TV movie.

Our family has endured an irreplaceable loss. Geraldine's tremendous heart of gold and the memory of her loving spirit will be forever cherished by her husband Ernest, her sister, Sheila Nash, her daughters, Colette Barrow, Yvonne Britt, Nakia Johnson, her four grandchildren, Chandler, Christina, Nicholas and Morgan. Geraldine had two sons in law, Clinton Barrow and Wendell Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Louis, David Wiggins and her sister, Gloria Evans.

Thank you, Mommy for everything. We will love you forever!!!
