George Keitt was born the son of McKinley and Ida R. Keitt. George was born one of six children in Bowman, SC on December 29, 1939. George did not enter this world alone; he had a twin sister named Virginia who kept him company. George would spend most of his childhood- young adult years in the south where after the untimely death of his parents found him being raised by his three aunts, Rosa, Annie B. & Hattie. George attended public school in Bowman, SC. Later, George would find himself during his teen and adult years in New York City. There George met Deloris Owens and they had two children, Kenneth and Jerilyn. In later years, George found himself in Jamaica Queens, New York where a 5 year old little girl (Ida) gave him her oldest sister's name & address when he requested them, which led to his marriage to Brenda Brown. George and Brenda later moved to Staten Island, NY.  While living in Staten Island, their two children were born, Debra and George Keitt, Jr.

George was always a hard worker and loved using his hands. From starting out working as a farmer to working for Willowbrook State School in Staten Island, NY, where he was employed for 22 years. George had a unique laugh that would cause all in hearing range to laugh along with him. He loved to dance and fool around and keep
everything fun. George would live the rest of his life in Augusta, GA surrounded by family and friends.

George was preceded in death by: Thomas, Virginia, Gladys, & Roosevelt.

George is survived by his wife, Brenda Keitt; sons, Kenneth Keitt, George, Jr. (GT) Keitt, Leviticus Marion, and Joe Louis Utsey; daughters, Jerilyn Utsey, Debra (Mimi) Keitt-Marion &Trina Keitt; siblings & in-laws, Annie B Carby, John & Doris Nixon, Deirdre Daniels, Lena Briggs, Robert Nicholas, Ida Carpenter, Mary Cole, & John Nicholas; mother in-law, Georgia Nicholas; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
