George Edward Robinson, Sr. was born on March 23, 1940 in St. George, South Carolina to the late Robert James Robinson & Helen "Inez" Britt.   He departed this life on Saturday, June 30, 2018.  A man truly loved, will be truly missed.

George graduated from Williams Memorial High School in 1958.  He was baptized at an early age at New Hope A.M.E. formerly known as the Gumbranch Church in South Carolina.  George loved the Lord.  He would soon relocate to New York where he met and married Mary E. Jackson on October 8, 1960 and to this union four children were born: George Jr., DeWitt, Gail and Eric.  His life would now be filled with love, laughter, family and travel.

George joined the Masons in the 1970's and was a long-standing member of the St. Johns #80 Lodge.  He was also a member of the VIP Social Club.  He would enjoy yearly picnics and trips to Atlantic City.  His love of traveling would take him to Panama, Cancun, Jerusalem and Alaska just to name a few.  He has the pictures to prove it.

George worked at Maimonides, a detective agency, Spen, Silver cup and as a salesman for Drake.  He would retire from Drake and continue enjoying his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Affectionately known as "Popeye", George never met a stranger he couldn't have a conversation with or a friend he wouldn't treat as family.  He always had a great story to share. He had a way of making people laugh.

George leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted wife of 58 years, Mary; three sons, George Jr. of New Jersey, DeWitt (fiancé Kim) of New York, James "Eric" (special friend Kendra) of North Carolina, one daughter, Theresa "Gail" of New York; eight grandchildren, Tyshaun, Javar, Keshia, Travis, Janay, Trevor, Brandon and Nariah; ten great grandchildren; one brother, James W. Robinson "Billy Boy" of New York; two aunts, Fannie of Pennsylvania and Flora of South Carolina; special relatives, John & Corrine of South Carolina, a special niece, Stacey Goodson of New York and a host of other relatives and friends.
