George Willis Lawton Jr., affectionately known to many as "Dill", entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, following an extended hospital stay at MUSC in South Carolina. He was born on October 20, 1988, in Charleston County to George W. Lawton Sr. and Linda Sims.

Dill was educated in the public-school systems of Okaloosa and Dorchester Counties and graduated from Woodland High School with the Class of 2007. He later continued his studies at Allen University in South Carolina.

At an early age, Dill was baptized and accepted Christ as his personal Savior. He joined Jerusalem U.M. Church in Harleyville, South Carolina, where he sang in the Sunbeam Choir and later the Young Adult Choir.

Dill worked diligently at several tire companies throughout the Charleston area before finding his professional home with Snider Fleet Solutions. He cared deeply for his customers and made sure their needs were met. A dedicated employee, he also treasured his work family. Dill was an avid fan of the Boston Celtics and New England Patriots, and he loved basketball, family, music, and video games.

Dill was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; "Paw" Demetrius Sims, who was a bonus father to him; and his godparents, Reverend Clark T. Wilson and Pearl Wilson.

He leaves to cherish his precious memories his parents, George LawtonSr. of Eutawville, South Carolina, and Linda Sims of Ladson, South Carolina; bonus daughter, Zaniya Britt of Raleigh, North Carolina; four sisters, Denise Ohamuo of Florida, Georgette Lawton of Richmond, Texas, Solvokia Lemon of North Carolina, and Demetria Sims of Ladson, South Carolina; and one brother, Austin Lawton of Rock Hill, South Carolina. He is also survived by five nieces, Dionye' (Sandresia) Gibson of  Byron, Georgia, Denee Hodges, Shawnm'nique Carroll of Richmond, Texas, Ny'omi Bates of Ladson, South Carolina, and A'ryn Lawton; five nephews, Kevin Hodges, Calvin Warren of Austin, Texas, Andrew Ohamuo, Cleo Bates Jr., and Demetrius Sims of the home; five aunts, Eula L. Mack and Bertha L. (James) Amaker of Harleyville, South Carolina, Idella Hankerson of Harleyville, South Carolina, Juanita Owens of Dorchester, South Carolina, and Willie M. (John) Utsey of Grover, South Carolina; three uncles, Herbert (Christine) Owens, Frank (Brenda) Mack, and Johnny Lawton of Harleyville, South Carolina; great-aunt, Josephine Pryor of Ridgeville, South Carolina; great uncle, John (Sarah) Smith of Harleyville; four god-sisters, Elaine Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Tykia Alston, and Michelle Williams; one god-brother, John Wilson; three godsons, Dre'Saun Alston, Javadius Jones, and Demetrius Sims; and a loving village of cousins and friends who each played a special part in his life.
