Your wings were ready but our hearts were not. Brother Furman W. Gardner peacefully gained his wings September 18, 2023, at the Saint George Healthcare Center.

Mr. Furman Wilma Gardner was born March 21, 1963, to the late Wilma Gardner and Daisy Stephens. He grew up in the Saint George and Harleyville area and attended the public schools in Dorchester County. As a young boy Furman joined the Boy Scouts. He enjoyed being outside and being a help to others. He would help anyone who needed assistance. Furman enjoyed music, catering and most of all his job as Security.

As a child Furman joined Jerusalem United Methodist Church in Harleyville and later moved his membership to Second Providence Baptist Church in Bowman, SC where he was baptized. While a member of Second Providence he was a member of the brotherhood and sang with the male chorus.

Furman was always known as a hard worker. He was employed by IGA for numerous years along with the town of Holly Hill and BI-LO. In his free time, he would spend his days with the Big Tyme Ryders. As Furman health declined, he resided at Saint George Healthcare Center where he was given the job of security.

On June 30, 1989, he was joined in holy matrimony to Evone Gardner. This union was blessed with two children.

He is proceeded in death by his loving parents Wilma Gardner and Daisy Stephens. His aunts Molly Gardner, Naomi Smith, and Maxine Lemon; his uncles Raymond Lemon, Norman Lemon, and Matthew Boyd.

He leaves to cherish fond memories his wife Evone Gardner; son Furman Mario Gardner (North Carolina); daughter Felicia S. Gardner (Bowman, SC); grandson Mason P. Gardner (Georgetown, SC); granddaughter Ellaina J. Adgerson (Bowman, SC); Seven sisters, Helen (Winchell) Asbury (Ridgeville, SC); Minnie Britt (Saint George, SC); Vida Gardner ( Harleyville, SC); Sandra Gardner (Saint George, SC); Cynthia (Wellington) Daley (Hephzibah,GA); Octavia (William) Shaw (Vance, SC); Renae LaCue (Eutawville, SC); One brother, Edward (Floretha) Lemon of Maryland; Six aunts, Mary Alice Dickey, Lilly Lemon, Sandra Lemon, Jackie Sweat, Emma Lemon, and Polly Gardner. Three uncle,s Ray (Levern) Lemon, Glenny Sweat, and Carlisle (Mary) Stephens. A stepfather, Rudolph Stephens; A special nephew Kalibe Pinckney; A live-in cousin who was like a sister Patsy (Robert) Jones; A host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
