Fannie Lee Baker, daughter of the late Rev. John Jenkins and Izola Jenkins was born on October 19, 1932 in St. George, SC. She was the 4th of seven siblings. After an extended illness, surrounded by her daughters, God called her home on October 31, 2023.

She attended the Public Schools of Dorchester County in St. George, SC. She moved to NY, where she met and married the love of her life, Albert Baker (who preceded her in death). She continued her education at the DeFrance Beauty School where she received her license as a cosmetologist. She worked hard at her craft and continued throughout her 80's. Fannie also worked and volunteered in the girls' schools and eventually became a Girl Scout leader.

She became a caregiver to the sick and elderly.

At an early age she gave her life over to God. She attended Jerusalem Baptist church until she moved to NYC. There she became a founding member of Liberty Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY and started her service as an Usher. She continued until she retired and moved back to St. George, where she continued her love of service as an usher. She became a member of the Lovely Hill Baptist Convention Ushers and the Missionary Ministry. She served faithfully until her health started to decline.

Fannie and Albert had five daughters, Patricia Jamison (Joe) of St. George, SC, Dianne Baker, Queens, NY, Barbara Johnson (Reginald), Raleigh, NC, Arleene Page (Leslie) of Parkville, MD and Sandra Baker- Cuffee (Brian) Norfolk, Virginia.

She enjoyed her grandchildren Erica, Angela, Shaun, Alexis, Ashley, Stephen, Siobhan, Ian, Carlos, Yvette, Jermaine, Xavier, Shonda, Dave, Charlene and Christian (who preceded her in death). Twenty-one great grands, sixteen great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Fannie's siblings are Elizabeth Moody, Sallie Mae Harrison, Johnny B. Jenkins, William Jenkins (who preceded her in death), Thelma Harper and Bernice Davis of Summerville, and Joseph Jenkins of Columbia, SC.

She is also survived by three brothers in law, John Ray Baker, Victor Charles Baker, Sr., and Jerry (Cora) Baker; four sisters in law, Rev. Eartha Mae McLeod (Joe), Lucille Baker-Gailiard, Lurine Baker Farmer, Francine Baker Samuel, all of Sumpter, SC.
