Everette Howard Lewis was born February 2nd, 1942, in St. George, South Carolina to the late Anabelle and Carmell Lewis. Everette departed this life on Saturday, February 12th, 2022, at the Trident Medical Center in North Charleston, South Carolina.
Everette accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at St. Mark Baptist Church. He attended the Public Schools of Dorchester County, South Carolina.
Everette moved to Brooklyn, New York. He lived in New York until he returned home to St. George, South Carolina. Mr. Lewis held several jobs and titles throughout out life, such as a truck driver, butcher, UPS worker, farm worker, car mechanic and all-around handyman. He was a local legend here in St. George.
Everette met the love of his life Gladys Chandler and was married in Brooklyn, New York at a family residence on October 13th, 1962. This union was blessed with two children.
Everette was preceded in death by his two sons, Rodney Howard Lewis and Everette Fitzgerald Lewis; and sister, Betty Jo Brunson.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his loving wife, Gladys Lewis; his daughter, Jessica Brown; seven grandchildren, Reva Collins-Lewis Rodney Jr., Carrie, and Kaleb Lewis, Ashiana and Ryeshim Mclamb; and Alexis Johnson; one great granddaughter; Honor Lewis; a niece he raised, Rhonda Chandler, and a furry friend, Pu Joe; a host of other relatives and friends.
