Evangelist Mable Stewart was born January 15, 1932 to Pop and Betsy Cobbs.

Her mother died when she was six years old.  She was adopted by Caesar and Mattie Sanders.  Mable was very helpful in the ministry of Reverend Sanders, as she helped to build Bethel # 2.  She prided herself in being able to pick 200 lbs. of cotton a day, something she just wanted to do.

At the age of 14 she met the love of her life, Louis Stewart.  They would soon be joined in marriage.  To this union three children were born: Louis, Jr., Erma Laverne and Lizzie Mae.  Life was hard for the newlyweds but they made it with the help of the Lord.

Early on she worked on the farm as a cook and housekeeper.  However, in 1968 God blessed her to work for the Dorchester County Health Department as a nurse's aide.  This was a miracle foe a black woman with only a 6th grade education.  God allowed her to work there for 30 years and retire to take care of her husband.

In the community she was known as a Prayer Warrior.  Evangelist Stewart was faithful to the Kingdom of God.  Many would call her for prayer.  She was president of the Mother Board for many years.  She led the Noon Day Prayer at her church.  Many would come from all around the neighborhood to be blessed.  Her home was always filed with company because of the loving atmosphere and homecooked meals.  Her son-in-law stated, "if people didn't know any better, you would think they sold moonshine." But no, it was because of the love they had for people.  They were willing to help anyone that needed it.

One of her greatest joys was the 5th Sunday Unions, when the saints from all over would get together and praise the Lord.  They would buy new outfits and get fresh hairdos but didn't mind sweating them out.  It was a time of praising the Lord, good preaching and singing, and good home cooked food straight from the trunk of cars.  Those were the days.

Mother Stewart will be missed by many.  She leaves to mourn two daughters, Laverne (James) and Lizzie Mae; four grandchildren, Tonya, Gregory (Jametta), James (Jennipher) and Lavoris; eleven great grands, Tiffany, BeBe, Tye, Ryan, Gage, Caleb, Jordan, Tayshawn, Madison, Saylor Lee and Keegan; two great-great grands, Treasure and Gianni; one aunt, Carrie Mae; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Martin and Rose Bud Jamison; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
