Obituary

Evander "Bamma" Tobin was the son of the late Wonnie Doe and Grace Britt Tobin. Born on November 9, 1954, in the Texas Community of St. George, South Carolina, "Bamma" was the eighth of eleven children – three of whom preceded him in death; Joseph, David and Viola.
After an extended battle with illness Evander departed this life at 8:38 p.m. Sunday, July 31, 2011, surrounded by his family.
Evander was educated in the Dorchester County Public School system. At an early age he joined Bethel Baptist Church. As an adult, Evander relocated to Brooklyn, New York, for a period of time before returning home to St. George.
"Bamma" was a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed working with his hands. Above all he was devoted to his family and loved sharing his life with those he cared for. "Bamma" could often be seen walking or riding his bicycle through the community with a welcoming smile for those he met along the way. He was a big hearted man who was always willing to help those who needed him.
"Bamma's" life and love will be remembered by all who knew him. He is survived by three daughters, Nicole Fletcher, Lakeisha Fogle and Stephanie Tobin; one son, Jermaine Sanders; three grandchildren, Kaytrel J. Sanders, Kyairria A. Sanders and Peter T. Willis, Jr.; three brothers, Robert (Dorothy) Tobin, Alexander (Ann) Tobin and Jeffrey (Keli) Tobin; four sisters, Pat (Jasper) Gadsden, Gloria (Billy) Adams, Jenny (Joe) Johnson and Sharon (Herman) Britt; aunts, Margaret Stokes and Clara D. Britt; uncle, Amos Lewis; sister-in-law, Maggie Tobin; brother-in-law, Edward "Ned" Brownlee; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
